Kids and families took advantage of the hot summer weather to pack the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds on Saturday (July 8) for the annual Family Fest event in Sioux Falls.

KDLT News is reporting, this was the 8th year the event was held in the Sioux Empire. Organizers say it was one of the biggest years to date for the event. Crowds doubled in size from the previous year.

Family Fest Owner, Steffanie Holtrop told KDLT News, “The kids are all running in here excited, running up to different things.  We are just so happy to get this together, so we can help community members meet organizations and put them together."

Kids were able to participate in all kinds of family fun activities throughout the day, like; a water splash zone, rock climbing, inflatables, there were even some farm animals on hand to look at.

Family Fest wasn't just all fun and games. The event also provided important health education resources for children, while helping to support the Children's Miracle Network.

Organizers are already looking forward to planning fun, new, activities for kiddos to participate in next year.

Speaking of next year's Family Fest, mark down (July 14) from 9 to 4 PM on your calendar. That is the date planned for Family Fest 2018 at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.
