Fall Time is Bug Time!

I was walking into work this morning.  And I just about stumbled on this bad boy.

Now, I claim to be a lot of things, but a bug expert I am not.  Is this a caterpillar?  What the heck is it!?

At first I thought it was one of those little fellas you could make a prediction of 'how cold the winter was going to be,' when you saw it, but I don't think I've seen one of these before.

While we're at it, did he git half of his head or tail bit off, or was that a product of hatching out of his chrysalis?

Don't make me go to the Outdoor Campus to ask.  What is this fella?  What's he turn into...other than bird food if he doesn't get off our walk here at the station.
