These are the types of stories that you love to cheer for, as a ex NFL running back is trying to make a comeback in the league after service in the Army.

Glen Coffee was with the San Francisco 49ers at the time, but walked away from the NFL to serve in the Army.

He ended up serving with the sixth Ranger Training Battalion as a U.S. Army paratrooper for four years starting back in 2013.

At the time, Coffee said "God had a bigger plan" for him.

Coffee only has one year of NFL service under his belt with career numbers of 226 rushing yards, 78 yards receiving and one touchdown.

The 29 year old is trying to accomplish a very hard task, as we all know the decline for NFL running backs at the age of 30 although Coffee is banking on the fact he hasn't been beat up as much as other NFL running backs after being out of the game for so long.

The NFL reinstated Coffee from the reserve/retired list last week, which allowed the 49ers to release him and now he is on waivers.  If he clears waivers, then he can sign with any team as a free agent.
