After Lincoln handed Roosevelt its first defeat of the season, the Riders treated themselves to a homecoming win over the Rapid City Cobblers, 49-13 last Friday.

The 11AAA second-ranked Riders were led by junior quarterback Taryn Christion, as he passed for 262 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 100 yards and a touchdown.

The key for the Riders on Friday night was Christion's ability to read the Cobblers defense. Christion guided the Riders on four scoring drives that were 1:07 or less, and threw an 88 and 61-yard score for touchdowns. (Statistics via Argus Leader).

Rapid City Central was led by Blake Stone, as he ran for 141 yards on the ground. (All statistics via Argus Leader).

With a win over the Cobblers, Roosevelt was selected as the No. 2 team for the second straight week in the ESPN 99.1/KELO-TV/KBHB Radio High School football rankings. Lincoln is the top team at 4-0.

For the Riders, Christion continues to lead Roosevelt. Through four games, the junior has thrown for 890 yards and 11 touchdowns. On the ground, Christion has ran for 426 yards and five touchdowns.

Roosevelt improved to 3-1, while Rapid City fell to 1-3. The Riders will travel to Aberdeen next week to take on Aberdeen Central. Rapid City Central will host Sturgis.
