The Eagles kick off their 40th anniversary tour on Saturday (July 6th) at Louisville, Kentucky's KFC Yum! Center. The 46-date North American trek will wrap up on November 23rd in Orlando, Florida at Amway Center. The new tour will be different than in the past, with the Eagles delving into specific eras as they chart the band's history with a heavy use of video screens showcasing their career. The concerts will feature founding lead guitarist Bernie Leadon returning for his first shows since 1975.

Bernie Leadon is responsible for naming the band, and explained the reasons why he chose "The Eagles" to represent the group: "The Eagles -- in Native American cosmology, you pray to 'Brother Eagle' to carry your prayers to 'Grandfather' -- the great spirit. So, I dug that sort of spiritual, kind of vague, y'know, generality reference, and I just liked the image. And the fact that it's the national symbol, too."
