Don’t Let Winter Get You Down. Have Some Fun During Frosty Frolics Weekend

Enjoy some winter time fun January 8-10, 2016 in Sioux Falls. The Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation Department has a cure for cabin fever with Frosty Frolics.

The weekend of fun starts on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Falls Park with the Frosty Frolics kickoff at 5:00 PM. Check out the fireworks display over the Falls at 6:45 PM. Enjoy live music from Surfin' Safari from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Overlook Cafe. Get there early, seating is limited.

The fun continues on Saturday, January 9, 2016 with a 5K and 10K walk/run starting at 9:00 AM at Spencer Park, southwest side of S. Cliff Ave. and I-229. Here's a list of other events for Saturday:

• 10:00am-12:00 PM - Ice Fishing Frenzy at Family Park, 1/2 mile north of 12th Street on Tea/Ellis Road - An ice fishing derby partnering with the Outdoor Campus. Ice fishing poles will be loaned out on a first-come, first-served basis. All ages welcome. A South Dakota fishing license is required for ages 16 and older.  The event is free, but registration is required. Call 367-8222 to register.
• 1:00-3:00 PM - Guided Snowshoe Tour for Beginners - A 20 minute walk through the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum, 1900 S. Perry Place. Shoes are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
• 1:30-2:30 PM - Snowy Day Bookwalk - Join storytime followed by crafts and activities at Prairie West Library, 7630 W. 26th Street.
• 4:00-5:00 PM - Curling Demonstration - At Memorial Ice Rink, 26th and Sertoma Ave.
• 6:00-7:00 PM - Broomball Bonanza - For ages 14-17. Located at Memorial Ice Rink, 26th and Sertoma Ave. Registration is required. Call 605-978-6932 to register.
• 6:00-9:00 PM - Teen Twilight Skate - At Memorial Ice Rink, 26th and Sertoma Ave.
• 7:00-9:00 PM - Indoor Concert featuring Condor - At Great Bear Recreation Park.

Sunday's events, January 10, 2016 include:

• 1:00-3:00 PM - Carnival on Ice at Memorial Ice Rink, 26th and Sertoma Ave. Featuring games and prizes.  Enjoy winter mini golf, photo opportunities with Frosty the Snowman and the Sioux Falls Stampede, Zoomobile, sleigh rides and more.
• 1:00-4:00 PM - All-age ski races - Register from 9:00AM-12:00 PM at Great Bear Recreation Park.
