Detroit, Chicago, and Washington D.C. are cities I think of when it comes to crime. I don't think of Sioux Falls as being a hotbed of criminal activity.

This morning in the Argus Leader there is a story about how mayoral candidate Greg Jamison thinks crime is a big problem and says his opponent, Mayor Mike Huether, isn't giving crime enough attention.

Crime is a problem in every city, big and small. And as the population increases, so will the number of crimes. But is it an extraordinary problem in Sioux Falls? I don't think so. We have "crime" which is a problem. But we do not have a "crime problem."

Meth labs and human trafficking seem to be the most problematic to public safety in our town. The police department has been active in dealing with them. It seems as if there is a prostitution or drug bust every other day.
