My friends and family have always told me that I have a gypsy soul, but maybe I just have the genetic make-up of a nomad.

Elite Daily published an article last week about the “Wanderlust Gene," scientifically known as DRD4, carried by roughly 20 percent of humans. Studies have found that the gene correlates to novelty seeking and risk taking traits.

The Wanderlust Gene makes people more likely to take risks, explore new places, ideas, foods and generally embrace adventure.

While this gene might seem like a fun thing to have, the gene is closely associated with ADHD. Studies found that the gene controls a chemical brain messenger that is important in learning and reward. Genetic make-up is not the sole reason for certain behaviors, but rather influences in behavior.

Researchers say that carriers of the gene may be “incredibly resourceful, and pioneering” but they might also be “utterly out of control.”

Yup, I think I’m a carrier!
