Detroit Lions Win Over Green Bay Packers at Lambeau for First Time Since 1991

I was about 11 months old the last time the Detroit Lions won at Lambeau Field in 1991. I'm 24 years old now and the streak is over. The Lions defeated the Packers 18-16 at Lambeau Sunday.

The Packers also saw their 13-game home winning streak snapped with a loss to the Lions.

Green Bay nearly came back, but Mason Crosby's field goal attempt as time expired was off the mark and Detroit finally won at Lambeau. It was an embarrassing loss for the Packers. But what's more embarrassing is that Packers fans booed their team when they went into the locker room at halftime? Yes, I get the frustration. However, I'm 24, like I said earlier, and I've watched good Packers football all my life. That's awesome. There's going to be struggles. There's still a lot of football to be played in 2015. Green Bay is 6-3. Just play the game. Aaron Rodgers is still a really good quarterback. Just like in life, patience is important in football. Be patient and have faith in your team.

Back to the game. The defense played well except for a big pass play they gave up late in the fourth quarter. The offense continues to struggle. It took three and a half quarters for Green Bay's offense to click. Aaron Rodgers found Richard Rodgers for a four-yard touchdown pass with 5:55 remaining in the game. However, on the next drive, the Packers allowed the Lions to drive down the field for a touchdown. Fortunately for the Packers, Matt Prater missed the extra point the and the game remained an eight-point game. Green Bay got the ball back and Aaron Rodgers drove the ball down the field and tossed a tight end Justin Perillo. The Lions broke up a two-point conversion that bounced out of Davante Adams' hands. The game got even more crazy. Green Bay lined up for an onside kick and after the ball went through Calvin Johnson's hands, rookie Damarious Randall caught it to give the Packers one last chance to come from behind and win. Aaron Rodgers completed two passes to get the Packers into field goal position. Crosby lined up for the field goal and he missed, which gave the Lions their first win at Lambeau since 1991.

The Packers are on a three-game losing streak and are now a game behind the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North. Oh, and the Packers play at Minnesota on Sunday.

What do the Packers need to fix? Green Bay needs to get its confidence back and needs to get more creative on offense. The Packers didn't use its screen game until the fourth quarter. Use it earlier! I don't know if Mike McCarthy needs to call plays again. But it sure wouldn't hurt. Listen, McCarthy is an offensive genius. He called a better game than Bill Belichick last year. Remember? Plus, I think if McCarthy called the plays again, it would allow Tom Clements to coach Aaron Rodgers again. I think that would benefit Rodgers a lot. Rodgers is in a funk. He found his game when he started to get his confidence back when he completed passes to Jared Abberderis late in the fourth quarter. It was nice to see Abberderis catching passes again. However, Abberderis did leave the game with an injury. Get well, Abby. As for the rest of the wide receivers, they need to step up and quit looking at the officials after the play. Run your route and go get the ball.

The other part of offense that is struggling, is the offensive line. Rodgers is sitting in the pocket and not getting outside. Rodgers is under a lot of pressure and the line is making him uncomfortable. Fortunately, there is still a lot of games left for the Packers to find their confidence again. They need it.

The defense and special teams didn't play that poorly Sunday. The biggest play of the game was probably the 104-yard kickoff return to Ameer Abdullah to start the third quarter. The Lions ended up scoring a touchdown on Abdullah's big return. The defense's big play that was costly was a long pass play from Matthew Stafford to Golden Tate that set up a touchdown with 1:57 in the game.

The Packers shouldn't panic, but there are concerns.

I guess all Packers fans can do is R-E-L-A-X and hope the team gets it figured out soon.
