PARKER - The defense is presenting its case this week in the trial of a South Dakota man accused of killing his infant son.

The Daily Republic newspaper reports that prosecutors rested their case against 39-year-old Chris Miller on Friday after almost five days of testimony. The trial is expected to conclude later this week after the defense finishes presenting its case and jurors deliberate.

Miller, of the southeastern town of Scotland, is being tried on several charges including second-degree murder in the March 2011 death of 4-month-old Jacob Miller. Prosecutors allege that Chris Miller killed the infant by shaking and beating him. Defense attorneys say Miller's wife rolled over on the child while in a drunken stupor.
