A deer had to be euthanized Wednesday morning after it jumped through a closed bedroom window and into a vacant apartment in southwest Sioux Falls.

Sergeant Paul Creviston says it was around 8:20am when police were called to 3511 South Gateway Boulevard.

The deer had several injuries from the broken window and could not get out of the apartment.

Police and staff from the Great Plains Zoo and the Game, Fish and Parks Department got the deer out of the apartment, but it had to be put down because of its injuries.
