SIOUX FALLS - U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson has announced the formation of a new task force to combat the growing trend of human trafficking in South Dakota.

Johnson made the announcement during a Thursday news conference.

"When people think of Human Trafficking they contemplate sweat shops in Malaysia or brothels in Bangkok.  But the fact of the matter is the Human Trafficking epidemic has grown to the point where we find it in the Heartland.  There is no community in South Dakota that is immune from Human Trafficking."

The announcement of the task force came the same day a Sioux Falls man, 37-year-old Carl Campbell, was sentenced to three life sentences for sex trafficking.
