Covered in ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ – 5 Awesome Versions of the Queen Classic

Recently I told you about a cover of Queen’s classic Bohemian Rhapsody by voice actor Paul Vlahos. He sang the song in lots of different voices and it’s really cool. It got me thinking about how many different, and awesome, covers of Bohemian Rhapsody there are. So, I thought I’d do my internet duty and make a list.

Weird Al

The best place to start is with this amazing version by Weird Al from his 1993 album Alapalooza. It’s not really a parody, Al does a polka cover of the song. This came out at the time of a Bohemian Rhapsody resurgence in popular culture, thanks in part to the move Wayne’s World. And I think it’s just super fun.

The Braids

This song is from the soundtrack to the 1996 move High School High. The duo The Braids releases an album in 1998. It’s a nice, smooth 90′s R&B version of the song. They stick to the singing verses and skip the more operatic parts of the original.

The Muppets

Gonzo+Animal+Chickens=Awesome.

Jake Shimabukuro

Ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro did this cover at TED2010. Beautiful.

Wayne Campbell, Garth Algar and the Other Guys Featuring Phil

Cover or Karaoke – you be the judge. Either way it’s fun.
