Construction Tally Is 290 Miles Of Roads Fixed In Sioux Falls In 4 Years
When the 2013 street construction season is over, 290 miles of Sioux Falls streets will have been improved since 2010. “When you consider that 290 miles is the distance between Sioux Falls and Wall, South Dakota, this is a huge milestone,” says Mark Cotter, Director of Public Works. “The people of Sioux Falls told us through the recent citizen survey that they expect smooth roads and improved traffic flow, and we are working hard to provide that for them.”
From 2010 through the end of 2013, the City will invest $126.7 million in street improvements, and several major construction projects currently are under way. Those include the intersection of 57th Street and Western Avenue, Russell Street, Highway 11, the interchange at Cliff Avenue and Interstate 90, the Solberg Avenue overpass, Sixth Street downtown, Benson Road, Kiwanis Avenue, and more.
