The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center is nearing completion and almost ready to open!

Darrin Smith, Director of Sioux Falls Community Development, says a number of events will be taking place at the Center prior to the grand opening concert on October 3rd.

Among the activities: the Construction Workers Appreciation Event:

"It's been widely reported that well over 85 to 90 percent of the building was built by local construction workers which is quite an achievement.  We're going to have them come in for special recognition."

Darrin says the public will be invited to a special lighting ceremony.

"If they want to see the new Event Center lit up for the first time---all the lights on---that will take place on Monday night September 15th about 10 p.m. Kind of late at night  but it will be fun."

Last but not least: the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.

"Friday September 19th will be the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.  The Mayor will be there along with the Chamber of Commerce and others in the community.  There will be a lot of local bands and talent entertaining the visitors all afternoon and evening."

The Mayor's open house would then start at 4 p.m. with the Sioux Falls Municipal Band being the first group to perform in concert on the Premier Center's Stage.
