The late Joe Strummer will have a city square named after him in Granada, Spain following a Facebook campaign. The BBC reports that more than 2,000 people signed an online petition in favor of the honor. Local officials have agreed with the proposal for Plaza de Joe Stummer.

The Clash co-founder, who died in 2002, name-checked Granada in the song "Spanish Bombs." His connection with the city began in the '70s, when he visited. Later, he produced the local rockers 091.
