City Council Members Sound off Regarding Siding Snafu at Denny Sanford Premier Center

Sioux Falls City Council’s informational meeting included discussion on the South Dakota Supreme Court decision that the city of Sioux Falls divulge the details of the one million dollar settlement regarding the faulty siding on the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

Councilor Pat Starr says he wants more transparency.

"I always think it's bad to do the public's business behind closed doors, having secret meetings and things I've spoken out about before." says Starr. "I really respect the decision of the South Dakota Supreme Court."

Councilor Theresa Stehley says in retrospect, a better warranty on the work could have benefited the city.  She also wants to know how much city attorneys were paid to fight to keep the records closed.

Other concerns noted were if the panels are merely a cosmetic defect or if they need to be repaired.

Councilor Michelle Erppenbach says an information session is needed in the future, where the questions voiced could be answered by those with the answers, such as city attorneys and architects.
