The City of Sioux Falls has announced that Christmas tree drop off sites are now open and accepting trees. The drop off sites are open daily from 9am to 5pm until January 19, 2014 depending on weather conditions (they will be closed on January 1, 2014). There is no charge for residential loads and you need to remove all accessories from the Christmas trees, including lights, ornaments, decorations, and stands.

There are two sites for people to use.

1) East Side 1015 East Chambers Street (West of Cliff Avenue by the Household Hazardous Waste Facility and Street Department.) Access is available from North Drive to East Ash Street to Chambers Street, and from North Cliff Avenue to Chambers Street. The driveway just west of the Household Hazardous Waste Facility will be the only access point.

2) West Side North Lyon Boulevard (West of Sioux Empire Fair.) Access is available from West 12th Street to North Lyons Boulevard and from West Madison Street to North Lyons Boulevard. The driveway just north of the railroad crossing will be the only access point.

The city adds that large loads and commercial loads will not be accepted and must go directly to the City of Sioux Falls Sanitary Landfill. Not accepted: artificial trees, bags, leaves, rubble, or household garbage.
