Chicago has announced its first U.S. shows of 2013. The band kicks off the New Year with three January stops in Hawaii, and also has four spring dates on the books for Rancho Mirage, California; Saint Augustine, Florida; Salina, Kansas; and New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Chicago singer-keyboardist and co-founder Robert Lamm says that in 1968, when the band began pulling songs together for their debut, they couldn't see anything past finally recording their first album: "Like all probably young artists starting out, I think that your goals are short term, so obviously, y'know, we were in a band and we were playing clubs and that kind of stuff, and we had a chance to make an album and that was really about as far as we could see. We were just so excited that we could actually go in and do an album and record some of this music that we had been creating."
