Your odds of winning at Powerball in South Dakota have improved.

With the new rules that went into effect on Sunday, you now have a better chance at winning a prize at the expense of a longer shot at the Powerball jackpot.

The overall odds of winning a prize are now one in about 25 instead of one in about 32. But your shot at winning the jackpot has increased to one in 292 million. That's up from one in 175 million.

The $10,000 third prize is on the way up too. It's jumping to $50,000.

Another change, players can now buy up to 10-times multipliers applicable to many prizes.

A few things however are staying the same. The initial jackpot will remain at $40 million and Powerball will still cost $2.00 per play with an additional $1.00 for the Power Play.

The first chance to try your luck under the new revisions happens during the Wednesday, October 7 drawing.
