The night before the launch of the 2017 legislative session, the South Dakota State Capital Building in Pierre will be lit in blue to recognize law enforcement and their families throughout the state.

Governor Dennis Daugaard comments on the pride we can have in law enforcement:

The individuals who enforce our laws live selfless lives. They’re courageous, hardworking and dedicated individuals. They work long hours and willingly put themselves in harm’s way to protect us. We should be deliberate about expressing our support and appreciation to them.

The blue lights will illuminate the Capital Building on Monday January 9th as a reminder of the bravery of those who protect and serve citizens.
