Officials at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena in Spokane, Washington thought it would be cute to rename the venue Bon Jovi Veterans Arena when Bon Jovi performs there on October 6th. But the idea did not go over well with local military veterans and other supporters who said that was disrespectful and the publicity stunt has been dropped.

Matt Gibson, general manager of the arena, says, "What started out as a fun promotional idea to try and celebrate the fact that we got this great concert has been distracted by a vocal minority. For Spokane, this is a big, big deal.” He adds that their goal was to let tour promoters know that a small town like Spokane takes hosting acts like Bon Jovi seriously.

Bon Jovi starts their European tour Thursday in Copenhagen, Denmark.
