Jon Bon Jovi spoke candidly about his 19-year-old daughter's recovery following her heroin overdose last November, while away at college. Stephanie Bonjiovi is the eldest of Jon and Dorothea Bon Jovi's four children.

During a recent appearance on Katie Couric's ABC talk show, Katie, Bon Jovi revealed the moment he heard the news about his daughter's O.D. and subsequent arrest while at Hamilton College in upstate New York: "The worst phone call ever. She's doin' great, I appreciate everybody's thoughts and prayers throughout it. In short, that problem is much more prevalent than any of us -- well, than I -- knew. And I cannot get over how many people I've met that said, 'My son. . . my daughter. . . my son. . . my daughter. . .' -- it's people I love, admire, respect, it happens to all kinds of families all over. There's a lot of pressure on kids, there's access to things that my generation didn't have. There's mistakes that are made and, y'know, I'm just blessed that's she's healthy and whole and we'll get through it -- we've gotten through it ".
