Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has written a song for Armenia for entry in the Eurovision Song Contest -- the long-running pop-music contest that has been described as "kitschfest" and the "bad taste party."

The song is called "Lonely Planet," which he says was a "demo idea," and was voted in as Armenia's Eurovision contender. It will be performed by the Armenian band The Dorians in the semi-finals on May 16th in Malmo, Sweden.

Iommi is from Birmingham, England, but his connection to Armenia dates back to 1988, when he helped raise funds after a huge earthquake there killed 25,000 people and left tens of thousands homeless. He was honored by the country in 2009 and has been helping to rebuild a music school there.
