Biggest Time Wasters at Work
A new survey found that water cooler chit-chat is the biggest time waster at the office, with 14 percent of some 300 people surveyed naming it.
In the admittedly unscientific poll from TrackVia, the time lost dealing with software and computer problems came in second at 11 percent. Just five percent named going on Facebook, Twitter or other social media sites.
In some good news for the execs, just four percent said company policies and procedures are their biggest time waster, while 44 percent said they actually helped increase productivity, at least slightly.
And as for all those meetings you get trapped in — lots of people agree they’re big time wasters, with 37 percent of those who attend meetings during a typical week saying at least half of the time during them is wasted.
