The month of March in South Dakota has had no shortage of basketball games to attend. With everything going on, this might have been the best month of sports in South Dakota history.

We saw the Summit League Tournament draw record numbers for the second year in a row at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. The tournament was highlighted by SDSU winning both the men's and women's bracket. Add the University of South Dakota women making a run to the finals for another great rivalry game between them and SDSU.

The SDSU men would fall short in the NCAA Tournament to Maryland in the first round. Coach Aaron Johnston's women's team pulled the 5-12 seed upset over Miami, and gave Stanford everything they could in a one point loss.

Amy Williams has her USD Coyotes into the WNIT Final Four. Through the run to this point the Coyotes have defeated Creighton, Minnesota, Northern Iowa, and Western Kentucky on the path to the semifinals.

On the Division II side, Augustana University secured its first National Championship on March 26. Coach Billeter's Vikings defeated Lincoln Memorial 90-81.

The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, Sanford Pentagon, and the Sioux Falls Sports Authority have also been very busy over the last couple of weeks. The Sanford Pentagon played host to the NCAA Women's Division II Women's Elite Eight and Final Four. A few days later, the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center hosted South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee, and Ohio State for the NCAA Division I Regional.

Add in the crowning of high school state champions across South Dakota and the state has found itself spoiled on the hardcourt.

Begs the question. Is this the best month in South Dakota sports history? With the amount of events that took place, it easily could be.
