It’s the 40th anniversary of Van Halen’s debut album released in 1978. The Red Rocker Sammy Hagar says the boys in Van Halen really "missed the boat" by not even recognizing the 40th anniversary of that work of art.

A reunion such as that would’ve topped classic rock news for quite some time. Sammy talked about how they could've pulled it off on Sirius XM's Trunk and Robinson show.

I agree that would’ve been a great show on the 40th anniversary year but as rock star story operas go, it wasn’t meant to be. Now, former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony along with Haggar continue to play in The Circle and Van Halen is still heard on classic rock radio - with nary a reunion plan in sight.

Van Halen went on hiatus until 2003 when they reunited with Hagar for a worldwide tour. The reunited band released a second greatest hits collection the following year.
