Parents and guardians of students at Brandon Valley Schools received an automated phone call from the superintendent Tuesday (September 22) to lay concerns to rest about a story circulating of a suspect in a white van putting children at risk.

"Brandon Police Department has not recently identified anyone that poses a threat to any children or any citizens," said the automated call. "The rumors that have been circulating around social media about the topic should be considered false."

The statement further said if there is a potential risk to students or residents in the Brandon area, a press release and automatic phone calls to parents would take place.
Several claims of a white van and safety issues were circulating on Facebook.
