Tonight's semifinal matchup at the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball tournament in San Antonio, will feature two teams that have never advanced this far before, when Augustana takes on Dowling College of Oakldale, New York.

The Vikings (28-6) are in the semis after upsetting #1 Clayton State (GA) 81-68, in Wednesday's quarterfinals, the Golden Lions (29-3) followed with a 60-44 win over Colorado Mesa.

Augustana used 53 percent shooting, ten three-pointers, and a plus-eight advantage (45-37) on the boards to offset 32 turnovers in the win over the Lakers. Shaunteva Ashley led the Vikings with 17 points and eight assists, Faith Tinklenberg added 15 points and eight rebounds, Emily Schulte had 11 points, and Cami Koen 10.

The Augie defense held the tournament's lone unbeaten team to just 33 percent shooting.

In Dowling's win, the Golden Lions' top ranked defense was on display, limiting Colorado Mesa to 29 percent shooting from the floor and only 15 percent from three-point range. On the season, Dowling allowed a nation-best 48 points on just 31 percent shooting.

Senior forward Danielle Wilson, a transfer from Baylor, scored 14 points, adding nine rebounds and seven blocked shots.

Tonight's matchup will pit that #1 defense against an Augustana offense that's 9th best in the country, averaging 76 points a game.

The winner advances to Friday night's National Championship game against either Western Washington or Ashland.

Tipoff tonight in San Antonio is 6:00pm.
