Some people enjoy winter weather and many of us 'tolerate' winter and consider it a trade off for the 'quality of life' we enjoy in Sioux Falls and the surrounding areas. But the winds this winter have made it a little more difficult to enjoy or tolerate it as the region braces for yet another blast from Old Man Winter this week.

A winter weather advisory for blowing snow is now in effect for Sioux Falls, Brookings, Marshall, and Worthington. Visibilities will be reduced in these areas today (Wednesday January 22).

And many areas to the north are under winter weather or blizzard warnings for today.

A blizzard warning is in effect for Watertown, Milbank, Sisseton and Clark.  White-out conditions are expected. Travel is not advised in these areas.

And winter weather advisories for blowing snow are also in effect for Aberdeen, Redfield and Mobridge.

And bitter cold temperatures are expected for the area tonight and into tomorrow morning, so a wind chill advisory is also in effect for wind chills in the -20 to -40 range.

The actual temperature in Sioux Falls tonight is expected to drop to -13 with wind chills around -30.

Warmer temperatures are expected Friday with a chance of rain, but as the temperature gauge drops, that could become snow and ice with increasing winds through the weekend.

Just 57 days until the first day of spring.
