Another Unlocked Door, Another Theft

The reminders keep coming, but we’ll say it again:  lock your door when you’re away from home.

Sioux Falls police say a laptop and a handgun were taken from an unlocked apartment on North Elmwood Avenue, in the West Sioux area of the city.

Information Officer Sam Clemens says the laptop was valued at $700 and the handgun, a revolver, was listed as a $400 loss.

The theft was reported early Monday afternoon.

Clemens says it’s hard to say how the thief or thieves knew the apartment door was unlocked, or whether the property might have been taken by someone the resident knows.

But regardless, if it’s your apartment, your garage or your car: Lock your doors!
