Another City Considers Texting Ban

The mayor of Mitchell reportedly would like for his city to follow Sioux Falls' lead and outlaw texting while driving. The possibility has also been raised by city officials in Huron.

The Sioux Falls City Council recently approved a ban on texting while driving, and the ban takes effect on September 28th.

Now, I don't text at all and I've even had it blocked on my cellphone, so I'm not really one to talk. But it just seems that texting while one is driving is dangerous, and it goes beyond texting while you're with another person - which is just rude.

Just how enforceable a ban is going to be has yet to be determined, but I understand the sentiment behind the ban. We can only hope it does some good and that it isn't just a feel-good ordinance that's impossible to enforce.
