The Gold Coin Bandit has struck again. For the past several years, an anonymous but very generous donor, has been giving gold coins to worthy charities. The only difference this holiday season is that the Gold Coin Bandit came to us asking for help.

The Bandit decided that the gold coin will be donated to the Nightwatch Canteen, a group of Sioux Falls Area United Methodist Churches that take turns making meals and feeding people in need on Sunday evenings at two locations in downtown Sioux Falls. Where the Gold Coin Bandit needed the help of KIKN 100.5 was making sure the gold coin got to the right people.

The letter that came to our studio read like this:

Nightwatch Canteen,

In the past months we have tried to help good groups in our own small way to create good in our community.

For the last few weeks, we have seen several articles about your group. Your special and selfless groups and volunteers see a need that many didn't see. You have taken it upon yourselves to do what you can to fill this need. I think that is what God calls each of us to do...to do our own small part - whatever we can do for good.

Please use this coin to help feed the people that need this meal on Sunday evenings in any manner you see fit. We hope this will help, but even more, we hope it will help to bring other people forward who can help in their own way.

Anytime, any amount, any place, any gift! We all can play an important part in doing good. #anygift

After receiving this handwritten letter from the Gold Coin Bandit, KIKN 100.5 contacted Chris and Teresa Beach, organizers and volunteers for the Nightwatch Canteen. Trav and Tammy were honored to play the part of the Bandit's helpers, presenting the gold bar, bringing awareness to the important role in the community that the Nightwatch Canteen fills and reminding everyone to use the Twitter hashtag #anygift.

The organizers of the Nightwatch Canteen are thrilled to have been blessed by the Gold Coin Bandit, but would like to remind others that volunteers and donations are always excepted. To get involved and help the Nightwatch Canteen, contact Reverend Kyle Reinhiller, pastor at Harrisburg United Methodist Church at 605-767-2253.
