In New York City recently, a 92-year-old Aviation Maintenance Technician with American Airlines was recognized for breaking a Guinness World Record.

His career as a mechanic has lasted longer than anyone else's. He's been working at what he does for 75 years.

Throughout his career at JFK, which began before it was called JFK, Al Blackman's been fixing everything from prop planes to jumbo jets for American Airlines.

American CEO Doug Parker told him 75 years of anything is an accomplishment. "I venture to guess we're never going to see anything like this again in our lifetime."

In fact, 75 years is a world record for an airline mechanic. So says the folks from the Guinness Book of World Records.

Al Blackman (called Blackie by his friends) is currently 92 years old. And when asked if he had any plans to retire he said, "Not on your life."
