The actors who will portray Gregg and Duane Allman in the film version of Gregg's book My Cross to Bear have been announced.

The film's producers have tapped Tyson Ritter, the lead singer-songwriter of pop-rock band The All-American Rejects, as Gregg Allman while Wyatt Russell, who's currently shooting 22 Jump Street with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, will take the role of Duane Allman. Both Ritter and Russell will perform vocals, guitar, piano and organ throughout the movie.

The film, tentatively titled Midnight Rider, will be directed by Randall Miller (who did the CBGB film). Production is scheduled to begin in February in Savannah, Georgia. The plan is to use original Allman Brothers tracks in the film as well as re-recorded performances by the actor-musicians.
