By the spring of 2018, there will be a vacant storefront in the Empire Mall in Sioux Falls.

Teavana, the tea store, will be closing by sometime early next year.

Coffee giant Starbucks, which bought the chain in 2012, announced Thursday (July 27), that all Teavana locations nationwide will be closing. Starbucks says the stores were under performing.

Teavana has other regional locations in Omaha and at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota.

About 3,300 workers at 379 locations will be affected.

The displaced workers will be offered positions at Starbucks locations.
