I love going to Albertville, Minnesota to the Albertville Premium Outlet Mall. The first time I went, I thought it was really odd that this huge outlet mall was basically miles away from hotels and food! There were not many options. Since that first visit many years ago, there are more hotels and the restaurant landscape has broadened.

Now, Albertville is going to be known for more than an awesome outlet mall, it's going to be home to The Mall of Entertainment, a 300,000 square foot project with a price tag of $115 million. The Mall will include a Marriott hotel, a large water park and an amusement park that will include activities based on Sony's movie characters and themes, such as "Men in Black" and the "Smurfs."

The Mall of Entertainment Minnesota website (moemn) describes it like this:

The destination will be a special place where parents and children go to spend time together while they play, jump, climb, explore and learn about the world through an incredible and often breathtaking experiences. And when they're done exploring, they can go behind the scenes of some of the greatest films in history and create their own movies at the Sony PIctures back-lot experience.  Finally, when they're finished with the jungles of Madagascar of basking in the glory of stardom they can cool off in the Twin Cities only completely interactive indoor waterpark.  With multiple days of entertainment, this all-inclusive resort will become a must see tourist destination as well as a local's favorite.

The park will be located along the I-94 corridor and next to Albertville Premium Outlet Malls, just 35 minutes away from the Mall of America.
