RAPID CITY - About 200 airmen have returned to Ellsworth Air Force Base after about six months overseas.

The airmen served in southwest Asia, helping with surveillance and munitions. They were met Sunday night by hundreds of family members and others.

Airman 1st Class Yuri McMurray says it was nice to see so many people who cared. Senior Master Sgt. David York says being away from family is tough, and seeing his wife and two children made him cry.

More personnel will be arriving home at the southwest South Dakota base later in the week. About 350 airmen were deployed earlier this month to take the place of those coming home.
