SIOUX FALLS - Airport officials in South Dakota's largest city say the planned merger of American Airlines and US Airways might create some new destinations.

Sioux Falls Regional Airport executive director Dan Letellier says he doesn't anticipate changes to the schedule in the near future, but the airport would like to see a daily flight to US Airways' hubs in Phoenix, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

Letellier tells the Argus Leader it should take the company a year before it begins consolidating operations and flight schedules.

Says Letellier, "They need to receive government approval, then begin on working on new union contracts that consolidate seniority lists and work rules and pay."
