Just when you thought Adrian Peterson's MVP season couldn't be more impressive after coming back from knee surgery to lead the NFL in rushing comes this: he was playing with an abdominal injury that required surgery.  The procedure was performed today in Philadelphia.

According to a statement from the Vikings:

Adrian Peterson had a surgical procedure done today by Dr. William Meyers, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Meyers was able to successfully repair Adrian’s abdominal core muscle injury (sports hernia).

The team says they don't expect any long term effects from the surgery.
