It could be one of the most entertaining swap meets you’ll ever attend. The ‘Hillbilly’s Junker Jamboree’ is returning for it’s second year, hitting the town of Crooks on August 20.

The event, which hosts live music and food vendors, attracted 1,500 people in their opening season last summer, and is expected to jump in size this year due to increasing public interest.

The variety of vendors is one of the most appealing elements. You definitely won’t be coming across every-day items at each stand. The meet has people selling anything from children’s books to animal bones and other oddities. However, it still offers unique hand-made, antique or repurposed furniture pieces.

Vendor response has been impressive. Shane Sutherland, the swap meet’s organizer, said that they will have twice the amount of vendors as last summer, with over 50 total.

Crooks, with a population of around 1340, is prepping for their increase in attendees by staffing up the whole city. It’s been a great event for the small town, with Sutherland saying the residents have been very appreciative.

If you’re looking to spice up your home decor, this would be the perfect place to go for fun items. The event starts at 9 a.m. and is being held at the Crooks Community Center. I would recommend getting there early, as increased interest in the event will bring bigger crowds and extra competition for those must-have, one of a kind items.
