The group Save the Children is out with it's annual "State of the World's Mothers Report."  It's a list of the best and worst places to be a mom - and, unfortunately, the United States has dropped to 31st place.

Coming in 1st this year was Finland.

When the group released its first list of best and worst countries to be a mother 15 years ago, the U.S. ranked 4th - this year we're 31st, the lowest ranking the country has ever had.

Save the Children CEO Carolyn Miles says the risk of American women dying during pregnancy or childbirth has gone up 50%.

"The child morality rate in the United States is now on par with countries like Uruguay and Qatar."

Miles also points out moms in this country have a very poor representation in government, even though women make up 51% of the U.S. population but hold just 19% of the seats in Congress.
