A group of business leaders in Yankton South Dakota are looking at the similarities between their city and another town in the same state: Deadwood.

The two communities both have a rich history.  While Deadwood has used revenue from the gambling industry to finance preservation efforts in their city, Yankton residents have been watching.

Former legislator Bernie Hunhoff says the idea of a Casino in Yankton could be just what the town needs to fuel additional funds to foster growth and historic preservation.

In order for the plan to work, South Dakota voters would need to vote for a change to the state constitution to give the idea life.

Although financial projects to launch the project could be as much as forty million dollars, the potential annual income is projected to be forty million dollars, according to a local steering committee.
