It will be a few weeks before pheasant hunters know what the hunting season will be like this fall.

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department says the results of the 2014 pheasant brood survey and pheasant hunting outlook will be available by the first week of September.

GF&P officials say the pheasant roadside survey began July 25 and will conclude on August 15.

The officials say they will have more definitive answers about ringnecks once the brood surveys are completed and the survey data is compared to 2013 and the average from the last 10 years.
