Christmas trees have begun to fill South Dakota Capitol hallways in Pierre for the annual Christmas at the Capitol holiday display.

More than 90 Christmas trees will be decorated on Saturday, November 22nd and Sunday, November 23rd by members of schools, local churches, different communities and civic groups from all across the state.

A grand lighting ceremony will officially open the display on Tuesday, November 25th and will continue through Saturday, December 27th from 8 AM to 10 PM each day.

This year's theme is '125 Years of Christmas in South Dakota'.

A 37-foot spruce, donated by Gus and Joan Rysavy of Brandon, South Dakota, will be the featured tree in the Capitol Rotunda.  The decorations for the featured spruce were made and provided by South Dakota fourth grade classrooms and Statehood Celebration Committees.

Along with the trees, several other areas of the Capitol will be decorated for the holidays, including the grand marble staircase and the Capitol grounds.
